Lessons
Looking for beginner violin lessons for your child?
As a teacher, I am passionate not only about guiding students every step of the way to achieve that beautiful string sound, but encouraging them to experience the wonder of music. The joy of playing a musical instrument goes far beyond technical skill, and my approach to lessons reflects this. I draw my teaching style from Mimi Zweig and Suzuki pedagogy. My classroom is adaptive, supportive, non-competitive, collaborative, and fun.
I've played the violin for nearly two decades in different capacities: as a classical soloist, a member of several orchestras and ensembles, a session musician, and a member of a contemporary worship band. The range of musical settings I've played in help me teach a variety of styles to young musicians. Learning to play a musical instrument, especially the violin, is equal parts challenging and rewarding. My biggest takeaway from years of playing is that a lasting connection with an instrument comes when students can see themselves in what they're learning.
Choosing to learn an instrument is an excellent opportunity for kids to express themselves and learn a broad set of skills that will change how they see the world. Through learning an instrument, they also develop patience, creativity, focus, persistence, and problem-solving skills.
